Malaika Arora Khan is a model, Indian VJ and a Bollywood actress.

Malaika was born in Mumbai to a Malayali mother, Joyce Polycarp and a Punjabi father, Anil Arora. Her father worked in the merchant navy. Her younger sister, Amrita Arora is a Bollywood actress.

She completed her tenth grade from Swami Vivekanand School in Chembur (Mumbai). Her Aunt Grace Polycarp was the principal of the school. She is also an alumna of the Holy Cross High School Thane where she had studied until ninth grade. She lived in Borla Society, opposite Basant Talkies before her modeling career.

Malaika Arora who always wanted to be a model since childhood started with Society magazine’s ccover girl. Essentially she is a print/press model doing ad campaigns for print and television. Her face adorned various prestigious ad campaigns, Some of her as campaigns are Pearl Pet, Bare Necessities, Mafatlal, Benzer, Arena, Tanishq, Tribhuvandas Bhimji and De Beers. Tall , sexy diva then went on to become the Ramp Queen . The sultry model shot to fame as a video jockey for the music channel MTV where she hosted popular shows like Style Check and Love Line.

Meanwhile she also did a music video for Bally Sagoo's Gud Naal Ishq Mitha and Shubha Mudgal's Pyar Ka Mausam where she shared the screen with her now hubby Arbaaz Khan . ‘Gud Naal Ishq Mitha’ song got noticed by Farah Khan who offered her the song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ alongside King Khan. Her sensational appearance in Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se caught audience’s attention.

The model turned veejay turned actress started her movie career with the movie ‘Aaja Meri Jaan’ but she gained instant appreciation and literally rocked the nation when she shook legs with Sharukh khan on a train top to the driving beat of chaiyya chaiyya. The song went to become an instant hit.

Till today she is called the ‘original item girl’ because of this song. Model turned VJ turned actress, Malaika Arora got married to bollywood actor Arbaz Khan on December 12, 1998 whom she met during a coffee ad shoot . Life has not changed much for her even after the birth of her son , Arhaan and even motherhood could not take away the sex symbol tag attached to her. Her fitness mantra has a lot to contribute to it since she works out religiously and eats just right. She got back to work with full force and does VJ and movies both with a great balancing act. Her known movies include Kaal, The Hero, Kaante, Maa Tujhhe Salaam, Indian, Bichhoo, Dil Se.

Also in Karan Johar's ‘Kaal' Malaika Arora Khan and Shah Rukh Khan created the same magic by shaking legs together to an item tune. And now, after a gap of three years, the hottie has shot a special number in Firoz Nadiadwala’s Welcome. This is a tapori song with Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar and is like a mixture of ‘Kajra re’ and ‘Makhna’

Interestingly, Malaika is also shooting a song with hubby Arbaaz Khan for Indrajit Lankesh’s untitled film. With the hot and sensuous body-to-die-for, Malaika Arora would be seen in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om where she plays a superwoman first of its kind in Bollywood. The movie is a co-production of Farah Khan and SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment. Malaika Arora Khan agreed to do the film all for free of cost for her dear friend Farah Khan. She is also the Brand ambassador for European cellular phone (Meridien mobile phones). On her future plans she certainly does not see herself in show biz in the future. She wants to start certain business, preferably running a restaurant.

Featuring on the Maxim cover, this sexy mamma is tagged as 'Being the first" mother seen as a sex symbol and does she love it or what? She was the first to rock for an item number on the moving train (shall we say burning train), the first Hottest Non – model VJ for a popular music channel. The first ever model whose stilettos became the bigger talk of the town than she was. But what she definitely does not believe in is that first impression is the last one coz every time she appears she leaves a deeper impact...

Sexy naughty bitchy, Malaika can give any Shakira, Beyonce or a Jennifer Lopez, run for their money, for it's not just her personality that speaks volume but her confidence too that haunts you. With the right set of ingredients, Malaika Arora makes up the absolute true blue international star.

When asked about her wildest experience she says it was swimming with sharks, well we bet the sharks must have felt the same way too. With a pout and smile to kill for, that can turn a stone to melt away, she still says that between a cricket match and Malaika Arora, it is the Game that her hubby goes for. Well, what can we say but bring it on babes we'll forever choose ya.

She is married to the Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan whom she met during a coffee ad shoot. Together they have a son, Arhaan. Her sister is actress Amrita Arora, and her brothers-in-law are actors, Salman Khan and Sohail Khan .

Arbaaz said in an interview "She balances work, home and kid beautifully." Amrita said on the popular show Koffee With Karan that she doesn't know anyone in Bollywood who has maintained their body as well as Malaika, even after motherhood.

Nach Baliye
Malaika also appeared in the television show Nach Baliye as one of the 3 judges and the show aired on STAR One in mid-2005, and she continued as a judge in Nach Baliye 2 that started airing in the last quarter of 2006.

Zara Nachke Dikha
Malaika has also judged in the show zara nachke dikha as a judge along with the indian actor Chunky Pandey.

What did you think of Nach Baliye 3?
I didn't see much of it. Whatever little I watched was completely over the top.. the focus was on everything but dance. I liked Jhalak Dikhlaja 2 better. The first two seasons of Nach Baliye were very good.

Wasn't the first one the best?
I agree. The dancers were better and there was the novelty factor. I had a lot of fun doing it. You could make a behind-the-scenes show out of the first two seasons. I have literally fallen off the chair once, laughing.

Apparently, there was a cold war between you and Saroj Khan.
No way. I'm the easiest person to get along with.

Did it bug that you were signed on primarily for your sex appeal?
I'm cool about my sex appeal. Why should I be apologetic about it? Moreover, I'm selective about my work. I host award functions, do a couple of shows, some films and I'm happy.
